Error in Tuesday Rally Challenge

Unfortunately, there was a mistake made in Heat 319, Phase 1 at the Rally Challenge held on Tuesday, July 17. Because of mistakes made in the process of tracking and recording times, Cayson Hayes should have moved on to the next round. That error was not caught until the next day when we were presented with a photograph.

On behalf of the Derby and its many volunteer workers, I want to extend my sincerest apology to Cayson and his family. Because the race had been completed, the International Soap Box Derby did not and does not believe there was any way to fairly and appropriately correct that error.

Again, the Derby apologizes for this error, we have learned from the mistake, and intend to move forward to provide great racing in the All-American Soap Box Derby World Championship Race on Saturday, July 21 for all our competitors.
