Soap Box Derby Seeks Nominations For Hall of Fame, Youth Service Awards

International Soap Box Derby, Inc., is seeking nominations for the organization’s Class of 2019 inductees into the Soap Box Derby Hall of Fame and for the President’s Youth Volunteer Service Award.

“The Hall of Fame and Youth Volunteer Service Awards recognize long-serving veterans as well as young men and women who have made significant leadership contributions to the Soap Box Derby program on a local or national level,” said Mark Gerberich, president and chief executive officer of International Soap Box Derby, Inc.

To be considered for the Hall of Fame, candidates must have a minimum of 20 years’ volunteer service at the local or national level or have made a significant financial contribution to the program.  Former racers of at least 10 years ago or Derby staff members with a minimum of 10 years’ service also can be nominated.

Candidates for the Youth Volunteer Service Award must be under the age of 21 and have made a significant impact as a volunteer or mentor to other young racers.

Nominations are due by Friday, May 3, and awards will be presented at the awards show following the 82nd FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby on Saturday, July 20.
