Travis Adkins Appointed Region 6 Director

Travis Adkins of Ravenna, Ohio, has been appointed Region 6 Director for the International Soap Box Derby (ISBD). Adkins raced for five years in the Portage County Soap Box Derby. He was the 2014 Local Super Stock Champion in Portage County and went on to finish fifth in the FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby World Championship race that year.

"I am very excited to be the new Region 6 Director,” said Adkins. “I’m looking forward to working with our racers, our families, and our board members across Region 6."

In addition to his racing experience Adkins has been a member of the Portage County Soap Box Derby Board of Directors for the past two years and also served as the Assistant Race Director during that time. He also was a staff member of the ISBD this past summer and was the Region 6 Director during the All-American race in July.

“We’re thrilled to have Travis join our team,” said Derby President and CEO Joe Mazur. “Over the past several years we’ve been able to witness his positive interaction with the racers and families. We feel his experience suits him well for this position.”

Adkins will be responsible for maintaining close contact and working with local Derby directors and local Derby associations in Region 6 (Ohio and West Virginia).
