Registration is required by 3:00pm the Tuesday, October 24 before the race.

The Star City Soap Box Derby will be holding an AASBD Rally Race on Saturday, October 28th and Sunday October 29th at Walrond Park in Roanoke County. A total of four races will be held that weekend, with a double and single elimination race each day in all three divisions. The registration fee is $35.00 per race or $120 for all four races if registration forms and fees are received by the Wednesday before the race.

Registrations/inspections/weigh ins will begin at 7:00 a.m. with the race starting at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and on Sunday, the weigh ins/inspections/registrations will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the race beginning at 8:30 a.m. Please let me know by the Wednesday before the race if you will be racing and in which division and day(s).

Roanoke is approximately a 3 to 3/12 hour drive from Richmond or Charlotte and about 4 hours from Northern Virginia. From Interstate 81, take exit 146 (Hollins University exit). Take a left (from 81 South) or a right (from 81 North) off the exit (toward Hollins University), and go approximately ½ mile and turn right onto Walrond Drive (you’ll see a sign for Walrond Park and the right is just past the Country Inn and Suites and a Mexican Restaurant). Follow Walrond Drive to the end at the tennis courts and take a right. Go toward the Senior Center (the log cabin), and take a left into the small paved parking lot just before the Senior Center. Go through the gates and follow the gravel road to the top of the track. Pass over the top of the track and turn left to get to the pits at the bottom of the hill.

There are several hotels just off exit 146, and they are located between the exit and the right turn to the track.
