Derran Wimer has worked in education for more then 40 years. Throughout the years he held positions including science teacher, principal, superintendent, and executive director. Derran retired in May of 2020 as the Executive Director of Summit Education Initiative (SEI), an educational research organization catalyzing high impact strategies to improve educational attainment while supporting all preschools, schools, and universities serving Summit County, Ohio students. Under his leadership SEI has grown from a 2-person organization with an idea in 2011 to an 8-member high achieving team demonstrating engagement, growth, and performance in 2016. Previously Derran was superintendent of a high performing suburban Cleveland school district.

Currently Derran is managing an independent consulting business – Wimer Consulting.
