GPD EMPLOYEES’ FOUNDATION PRESENTS INCLUSION DAY AT DERBY DOWNS 2021

For the fifth year, GPD Employees’ Foundation presents Inclusion Day at Derby Downs on Saturday, August 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Inclusion Day is an event for youth with all different abilities and their siblings, giving them the opportunity to ride down the 989-foot Derby Downs Track in a dual-operated Soap Box Derby car with an experienced pilot. Offered at the event is a place where participants can enjoy lunch, entertainment, and other activities that encourage involvement and inclusion.

“We are excited to work with the GPD Employees’ Foundation and their support of Inclusion Day,” stated Derby President and CEO Mark Gerberich. “This is a great event for the Derby as we carry out our mission and provide meaningful experiences for youth in Akron and Summit County. We appreciate all that GPD does for the Derby in their support of our mission.”

"We are really looking forward to bringing this great event back this year,” stated GPD President Darrin Kotecki. “We love being able to interact with the community and see all the kids enjoy a fun-filled day at the hill!"

This event is only $5 per racer but an online registration is required for participants to secure their spot at inclusionday.soapboxderby.org.

The requirements for riders are as follows: participants must be ages 5 or older, weigh less than 185 pounds, must be able to wear a helmet and be able to ride down the Soap Box Derby track with trained pilot. A waiver form must be completed for all participants prior to being permitted to ride down the track.
