Schools and Clubs Competed in The Soap Box Derby’s Gravity Racing Challenge STEM Team Competition

06.21.2021

Teams from across Northeast Ohio competed in the Soap Box Derby’s Gravity Racing Challenge (GRC) STEM Team Competition. During the week of May 17 to May 21, 11 teams competed in the Stock and Super Stock divisions.

The GRC is part of the Derby’s education-based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) racing initiative that engages students in project-based learning, creative problem solving and team building where teams of up to 10 students and educators will compete in the traditional Stock and Super Stock divisions. Created to encourage teamwork, problem solving and critical thinking skills, teams comprised of two (2) adult coaches and 3-10 students, spend the year designing, building, and testing their Soap Box Derby cars with the hopes of bringing home a Gravity Racing Challenge STEM Team Competition trophy.
