NewsSoap Box Derby Re-Elects Officers, Adds New Directors11.26.2018Directors of International Soap Box Derby, Inc. (ISBD) re-elected its officers and elected three additional board members at the organization’s recent annual meeting. Officers re-elected to one-year terms are: Chairman: Gregg Mervis, president and chief executive officer, Akron/Summit Convention and Visitors Bureau. Vice chairman: Mark Mroczynski, executive director of transmission reliability enhancement projects at FirstEnergy. Treasurer: Alan Brubaker, Summit County engineer. Secretary: Danyelle Sweitzer, human resources director of GPD Group. Joining the board for the next three years are: Jolene Lane, vice president for inclusion and equity, University of Akron; Evis (EJ) Brinson, community affairs consultant, and Akron attorney Michele Tomer, who previously served as a board member from 2002 until 2015. There are 13 members on the ISBD board of directors. “This diverse group of individuals should positively impact our board and committees of the Soap Box Derby, especially among the community, education and volunteers,” Mervis said. Mark Gerberich, president and chief executive officer of ISBD, said, “We are pleased to have such talented persons willing to serve in furthering the mission of the International Soap Box Derby.”
