NewsSoap Box Derby STEM Summer Camp at Derby Downs in June04.16.2018April 16, 2018 – The International Soap Box Derby (ISBD) will be hosting the sixth annual Soap Box Derby STEM Summer Camp at Derby Downs during June 11-15 and June 18-22 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This five-day program is designed for youth ages 9-12 and will give them the opportunity to participate in STEM-driven activities (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Youth will design, build, and race daily Soap Box Derby Cars down the Derby Downs track. Youth will also construct, test, and compete in a Mini Soap Box Derby race. There will be a variety of other fun, hands-on activities throughout the week as well as Friday’s Soap Box Derby and Mini Soap Box Derby Car races. Family and friends are invited to attend and cheer for their racers during the competition and awards presentations. As well as tour the Soap Box Derby’s Hall of Fame and Museum. “We are excited about this unique summer camp that allows youth to learn about STEM from fun, hands-on activities, life skills, race activities every day, and learn how to assemble a Soap Box Derby Car,” said International Soap Box Derby President and CEO Mark Gerberich.
