Greater Lafayette Soap Box Derby

Greater Lafayette Soap Box Derby will race two divisions: Stock and Super Stock
(Masters division racers are invited to race in the Northwest Indiana local Soap Box Derby on June 24, 2023.)
Winners of the Stock & Super Stock divisions are eligible to compete at the 85th First Energy All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio during the week of July 16-22, 2023.
Age Limitations:
- Stock Division drivers must be at least 7 years old by our race day and must not turn 14 on or before July 31, 2023.
- Super Stock Division drivers must be 9 years old by July 31, 2022 and must not turn 19 on or before July 31, 2023.
Organizers of the GLSBD are all volunteers and we are always looking for additional help!

A message from the All-American Soap Box Derby
The Soap Box Derby is a youth racing program which has run nationally since 1934. World Championship finals are held each July at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio.
The idea of the Soap Box Derby grew out of a photographic assignment of Dayton, Ohio, newsman Myron Scott. He covered a race of boy-built cars in his home community and was so impressed with this event that he acquired a copyright for the idea and began development of a similar program on a national scale.
