FirstEnergyAll-American Soap Box Derby Countdown

2017 marks the 10th year of the North Georgia Soap Box Derby (Formally Dunwoody-NE Georgia Soap Box Derby) -- and our 9th year as a fully AASBD sanctioned head-to-head competition.

Since 2008, when we began this racing tradition as a fun, non-sanctioned test of car and driver, the number of cars and drivers has grown each year -- and this year we are expecting our largest groups of drivers ever

In addition to racing Stock, Super Stock and Masters Division cars, we have a Super Kids Race for children with disabilities, with winners in each category going on to race in Akron, OH to compete in the 80th All-American Soap Box Derby World Championship in Akron, Ohio on July 22, 2017

A message from the All-American Soap Box Derby

The Soap Box Derby is a youth racing program which has run nationally since 1934. World Championship finals are held each July at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio.

The idea of the Soap Box Derby grew out of a photographic assignment of Dayton, Ohio, newsman Myron Scott. He covered a race of boy-built cars in his home community and was so impressed with this event that he acquired a copyright for the idea and began development of a similar program on a national scale.
