Q: How old do I have to be to start racing?

A: Boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 20 can expereince the thrill of soap box derby racing.

Q: How can I get started racing?

A: Drop us a line via email or phone and we will hook you up a family in your area. We have several families across the Chicago area that you can visit with and answer any of your question.

Q: Do I have to buy and build a car?

A: No, not right away. For first time drivers, we have club cars that you can use to start racing. If you end up enjoying racing we can assist you with the construction of your own car or asssit you will the process of purchasing a new or used car.

Q: I keep reading about a Local race and a Rally race, what is the difference?

A: A Local race consist of racers from that specific local area. Each race city conducts only 1 local race each year, generally between the months of April and June. The winner of each division in a local race automatically qualifies to compete in the World Championship race in Akron, Ohio. A Rally race consist of racers from across the U.S. with an Official All American Soap Box Derby car. Each race city can conduct as many rally races as they chose. Some race cities conduct more rally races than others. Each racer that competes in a rally race will earn points to help them qualify for the World Championship race in Akron, Ohio.

Q: This sounds great for kids, however I do not have any kids, what can I do to be more involved?

A: You can help in many ways. You can help out on race day with the running of the race or make a donation. We are a 501c3 organization. Please contact us.
