About Us The Kiwanis Club of Alpine Foundation is starting 8 years at the helm of the Alpine Soap Box Derby racing season. With the support of the Kiwanis Club of Alpine Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Alpine and Kiwanis Club of La Mesa working together, this is truly a fantastic race stop. In 2023, we will be racing at a NEW TRACK LOCATION (see below), which will be a parking lot race that requires skillful driving to win. In 2023, our Local Race will be open to two divisions (Stock & Super Stock). All rules governing Soap Box Derby will be honored and followed. Please check with the new car plans and requirements for racing during the 2023-2024 season. **IMPORTANT** We have decided that our Races will be TOTAL WEIGHT RACES. To conform to the new rules of having a wheel bank we will have a 4 wheel swap prior to starting our race day with other cars present. Your wheels must be in good condition! These racing districts conduct sanctioned Soap Box Derby races throughout the year and qualify champs for the annual FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby® World Championship race at the world famous Derby Downs Track in Akron, Ohio. The Derby's Education Program is a fast-growing component of the organization and includes a STEM-Based Curriculum, the Gravity Racing Challenge® STEM Team Competition and a Mini Soap Box Derby program. The Derby also operates the world famous Derby Downs Track in Akron, Ohio where events are held throughout the racing season. The Board of Directors oversees the operation of the Derby, and the day-to-day activities are handled by the Headquarters staff in Akron.
