Our Derby Drivers believe in the Mission of the International Soap Box Derby which is to Inspire the Next Generation of Champions, Bring STEM Education out of the Classroom, Promote the Derby Experience, and Cultivate Lifelong Skills & Character
The Best Way to Give Back to the Soap Box Derby
Individual donations, along with sponsorships and grants, fund half of the Derby’s annual revenue. Part of the Soap Box Derby’s Annual Appeal, the “Derby Drivers” program recognizes generous individuals who provide sustaining, unrestricted annual gifts. These donations preserve the Values that all those who participate in Derby learn from, which include: Perseverance, Sportsmanship, Community, Leadership, & Collaboration while ensuring current racers can access hands-on learning opportunities.
The initiatives deemed critical by our volunteer and staff leadership that will help grow our sport that you will directly impact include:
- Race City Development
- STEM Education Program Expansion
- Capital Improvements
- Nationwide Programming
- Year-Round Events at Derby Downs
- Other New Ventures
This Annual Gift ensures that current racers will continue to have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts (STEM) and cultivate the “Derby Experience” of community, friendship, sportsmanship, and hard work.
The Soap Box Derby has inspired generations, but its future depends on the people who believe it’s worth preserving. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on donors to keep kids racing, expand our STEM programs, care for Derby Downs, and carry this tradition forward. Every gift, whether large or small, helps ensure these life lessons we engrain into our youth programs will be coveted for generations to come.
