ACCENTURE PARTNERS WITH SOAP BOX DERBY AS PRESENTING SPONSOR OF THE CORPORATE DERBY CHALLENGE

05.03.2022

Accenture is partnering with the International Soap Box Derby (ISBD) as the presenting sponsor of the Corporate Derby Challenge (CDC) on June 23 and 24.

This event is the Soap Box Derby’s top annual fund-raiser to support the Derby’s mission. The CDC is a high-energy event in which teams of corporate and organization employees collaborate to design, assemble, decorate, and compete in an entertaining race in their own adult gravity-powered Soap Box Derby cars.

“Accenture is pleased to continue our sponsorship of the All-American Soap Box Derby to benefit our youth as they grow their curiosity, skills and knowledge across the STEM curriculum,” said Kevin Fenton, managing director, Accenture. “We look forward to a little competition with our fellow sponsors in the Corporate Derby Challenge!”

Participating teams in the Corporate Derby Challenge begin by assembling a basic car chassis from a pre-manufactured kit provided by the Soap Box Derby organization.

Once the car chassis is assembled, teams can tap into their creativity by constructing and decorating their car wherever their imagination takes them, as long as it is according to the Corporate Derby Challenge guidelines.

An unveiling reception will take place Thursday, June 23, at Derby Downs where each team will reveal its CDC car. Awards will honor the best designed, constructed, and decorated cars. CDC team members, as well as representatives from the participating companies, organizations, and the Soap Box Derby will enjoy appetizers, beverages, and a night of entertainment and music.

On Friday, June 24, the CDC teams will race for trophies and bragging rights. Activities will consist of trial runs, fun runs, tailgating, food trucks, and of course, the CDC competition where each team will race each other down the famous Derby Downs track.

“We are really thankful to Accenture for its sponsorship of this event,” said Mark Gerberich, president and chief executive officer of ISBD. “We are excited to bring our corporate partners back together for a day of networking, tailgating, and racing. This fund-raising event really helps deliver the mission in supporting youth development in racing and education.”
