THE INTERNATIONAL SOAP BOX DERBY® PRESENTS 9TH ANNUAL STEM SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM

05.17.2022

The International Soap Box Derby (ISBD) will be hosting its 9th annual STEM Summer Program at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio. Beginning June 6 through June 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. boys and girls aged 8-13 are invited to experience the excitement of building and racing Soap Box Derby cars, making new friends, and participating in fun interactive learning activities.

“We are excited to be hosting our Soap Box Derby STEM Summer Camp again. This is a great opportunity to deliver our mission as students learn about leadership, knowledge, character, and collaboration, while at the same time having fun and meeting new people,” Mark Gerberich, ISBD president and chief executive officer, said. “This is a well-rounded experience for students to learn by using their creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills.  We are pleased to impact this group of learners.”

After a week of designing, building, and racing full-size and 1/13 scale model Derby cars, family and friends are invited to a culminating event of competition, awards, and a tour of the Soap Box Derby Hall of Fame Museum. Linda Hubbel, ISBD education director, said, “We are looking forward to having the kids out at our Summer Camp this year. It is exciting to see all the smiles on the campers faces as they experience the Thrill of the Hill.”

Registration for the Soap Box Derby STEM Summer Program is $225 and includes a ticket to the FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby world championship on Saturday, July 23, 2022.
